Chapter 12: Tip to an End

Detective Toron arrives at the precinct and walks slowly to his desk. He cant help but feel somewhat despondent. Over the last three days he and his partner have been scouring the city. Talking to what seems like an infant number of people who have absolutely no information watts so ever about the murder case they have found themselves on. No witnesses or physical evidence of any sort at the scan of the crime. No suspicious characters notices either prior to or after the murder. No one who hurdle or saw the victim having a fight with anyone before her death. The closest thing they came to a lead was found dead before they even knew that he could have had any information. Not even any unofficial rumors to look into. Just one great big goose egg. They would have had the coroner go over the body again except that they didn't even have that anymore. Who ever killed her had her body removed from the morgue that night. The entire case was giving him the willies.

Bad ennui that the fiancée of one of the town more affluent citizens be found dead on the scheduled wedding day creating quite the buzz with the press. Oh no, the body had to be found bloodless with out a single evident wound on it. It was almost as if she had been grabbed and then bleed out threw a needle while she was living. He shudders. It must have been a horrifying way to die. To have to lay most certainly bound and drugged while watching your life drip out slowly. The press has already called it a vampire murder, not to mention the death of the one lead they actually had as a possible suspect who was killed the same way. If these things were not bad ennui but the body had to disappear with out a erase and not even one clue about the crime. It was beginning to make him and his partner look like incompetent ninnies.

He start to go over the messages on his desk but stops as the first note he realy notices stands out almost as if it was written in bright neon glow ink. He satires at it as he waits calmly for his partner to arrive. This anonymous message that was left in a recording for him and his partner is the closest thing to a brick in the case they have had seance he first answered Mrs. Lentils call. It is the first thing they have had that could lead them to a solution, and a killer seance the tip about that Johnson fellow. Not that that mans death was a big loss, considering his record. The first time in the last three days he has had the feeling that they just might babble to get someplace with this case at all. But better then that, should this tip pan out, he could give something to the press and close the book on what has been one giant head each. As soon as his partner enters he gets up and meets him, handing Carbon the note Toron starts for the door. After a quick lace Carbon follows. The note reads fairly carefully

I cant leave my name for fear of my life

I know who killed that girl, Colera

It was a self styled vampire and a cult of his

The only names I can give are Storn and John Van Rossin

I think one of the member may be planning to do a clean up on the group soon.

They like things keep lower key then this.

They can be found at 734 New Oak

The detective enter the car and start driving to the quiet old residential area were the address is located. Neither of them say a word for fear of jinxing the entire situation. They pull up to the quiet brown stone and walk up to the door. They are surprised to find that the door is very much wide open. Cautiously they enter the residence and notice that there are piles of boards and bricks laying in jumbles heaps beneath the windows. The detectives draw their guns and slowly start walking threw the house. Finding nothing beyond a mess on the first floor they head up the satires. The look down a hall with four doors that are swung open in an early silence. They look into the first two rooms and lower their guns. Corben is the first to break the silence "Judging from the three bodies in this room over here I would say that what ever party was intending to clean up the mess caused by our cabs has already been threw here." Toron nods his head "Were going to have to use out radio to call in the ambulances. I wonder which one of the two men named is this fellow?" Carbon shrugs "We best do a quick rundown on both names."

They walk out to the car and radio dispatch. Asking for a computer check on the two last names the learn that the residence they are at belong to storn and are given the address for a couple of places owned or rented by a John Van Rossin. They also learn that Van Rossin recently was released after a bazaar attack on his sister and him that had resulted in massive blood loss in both of them. Toron shakes his head as he starts the car and comments casually to his partner "Looks like Van Rossin has taken it on himself to track down and eliminate the members of what ever group instigated the attack on him and his sister a while back." Carbon early nods in quiet agreement as they go and pick up search warrens for the verbose address on the list.

A a small family home in the contrite that Van Rossin inherited when his parents died the detectives find him packing up a small van for a trip. Toron walks up to the man and flashes a badge "John Van Rossin, You are being arrested in suspicion of murder. You have the right to remain quiet. If you do not or can not remain quiet your words may be used against you in a coot of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you do not or can not afford an attorney one will be appointed to you. Get in the car." Toron places Van Rossin in the back. The Man looks at Toron and polightly informs him "You have thing wrong. I haven't actually killed anyone." Toron ignores the man and helps his partner search the van as several officer go over the residence. They find a variety of stakes, spikes and other paraphernalia used for killing vampires and everything is cataloged.

Mean while at the Storn place the paramedics are baffled as the watch the body turn to dust and bones before their eyes. Van Rosins finger prints are found all over the place however and it is assumed that he must have laced the murder weapons with some sort of chemical designed to cause rapid decomposition. At his other residences the police find more of the same until a search of the place he rented from Daric Funt turns up Colera's engagement ring and necklace.
